Activities of Daily Living

What would you like to do?

  • Prepare a nutritious dinner
  • Clean and manage your home
  • Pick out clothes that match
  • Enjoy a hobby
  • Host a birthday party

You can do all these things and more. Limited vision does not mean limited activity. Training in activities of daily living ADL teaches skills and knowledge you can use right now around the home. If you feel unsure using appliances, cutting, using the stove top or oven, knowing when meat is cooked properly or knowing when to take the cookies or pizza out of the oven, ADL training may be the answer.

Activities of Daily Living Resources

Script Talk: a technology that helps people who are blind or have low vision access prescription medication information independently. It uses a special label that contains audio information about the medication, such as the drug name, dosage, and instructions. A handheld reader or compatible device scans the label and speaks the information aloud. This allows blind individuals to safely identify their medications, understand how to take them, and reduce the risk of errors, supporting independence and confidence in managing their health.
